The Eclipse Academy program is designed to maximize benefits to all players. It runs year-round and offers flexibility and continuity to help foster player growth at all levels. Key pillars to the program:
Flexibility
Hands-on coaching approach in small cohorts divided by skill level (small player to coach ratio) . NOTE currently we are only hosting intermediate or advanced level players with some playing exeperience.
Low cost (Eclipse is nonprofit 501C).
Community based (family atmosphere).
Monthly Subscription Model
We offer a subscription model for the program, including registration and payment on a monthly basis. The monthly fee is discounted compared to drop-in cost.
Current practice schedule:
Saturday or Sunday afternoon
During off-season (Feb - July) months, players will have option to commit to 1 track (sat or sun) or both days.
During club competition season (Aug - Jan), players will be divided into specific tracks per age group
Middle School (primarily 6th, 7th, 8th graders).
Weekly on Saturdays
High School (primarily 9th-10th graders)
Weekly on Sundays
Player Benefits
The subscription model provides continuity in attendance that accelerates learning and improvement for your player. It enables us to develop coaching strategies tailored for each player and maximizes their benefit from the Eclipse experience, which is founded upon strong coaching and a high coach:player ratio.
Consistent weekly attendance is strongly recommended.
Eclipse Academy is designed with flexibility in mind to serve different type of players/families, including:
1. Experienced non-traveling players
Some players have played in traveling club teams and decided that it is not for them or perhaps want to take a year off due to academic commitments or recovering injuries.
2. Current club players
We also serve elite players that are competing in club teams, but wish to get additional training whenever their schedule allows.
They may need to focus on some particular skill or area of their game. Perhaps they are trying to switch their primary vball position and need to get extra playing time and teaching to help them reach their goals in club or school teams.
3. Multi-sport athletes
Many kids are great athletes but new to the sport of vball. Some want to shift their focus more toward vball.
They are not quite ready to jump into the full commitment of a competition season but want to still train at a high level.
This is an ongoing clinic-based program providing high quality coaching, low player:coach ratio. Program will focus on middle school age, grades 6, 7, 8 but open to old kids as well when there is right fit.
We believe younger players will benefit greatly from the hands-on coaching and frequent practices through Eclipse Academy.
Eclipse Academy is also targeted to high school players who can also benefit in keeping their skills sharp without affecting busy academic schedules. We encourage everyone to consider our Academy program.
Scrimmages
Even though Eclipse Academy players will not participate in formal NCVA tournaments, we will have routine intra-club scrimmages vs other Eclipse groups/teams.
We’ll also try to arrange scrimmages with other clubs and past Eclipse members and coaches, or advanced players from other competitive programs.
